Pick-up point on the bus
Some buses still have a pick-up point on the outside where you can collect the subscription or discount card you purchased in the webshop for your OV-chipkaart.
This is how it works
- Buy your desired travel product in the webshop. You will soon receive an e-mail with the message that you can collect your subscription, discount card or credit at a pick-up point.
- Go to a bus stop where a bus equipped with a pick-up point stops.
- When the bus has stopped, hold your OV-chipkaart against the pick-up device for 3 seconds. The device will beep when your product is loaded. One product is loaded at a time, so if you want to load more than one product, you have to wait 3 seconds for the beep per product. The device indicates when all products have been picked up.
- Your subscription, discount card or credit is now on your OV-chipkaart and you can check in immediately.
Which buses have a pick-up point?
As more and more travellers use debit cards to check in and out (OVpay) and thus no longer need to load a balance or product onto their OV-Chipkaart, there is much less use of pick-up points. Therefore, more and more pick-up points on buses and in shops will disappear.Do you have a Studentenreisproduct, a subscription or a discount product? Then you still need an OV-chipkaart and you will have to collect it from a pick-up point. Before traveling, always check where the nearest pick-up point is in the service points finder.
